THE NORTHEAST
The name "Isann" was derived from Iśāna, a manifestation of Shiva as the deity of the northeast, and the Sanskrit word for northeast. The term "Isann" also comes from Isanapura, the old capital of the Chenla kingdom of Cambodia predating the Angkor civilization.
In present day Cambodia, the northeast is known as Cambodia’s last frontier - the fertile lands of the mountains and the winds where the kingdom’s last remaining pristine forests and indigenous tribes are found, and also home to its coffee lands and wild elephants. Isann Lodge is a tribute to this magical place.
